A TRACTOR was destroyed after it caught fire in a field near Baschurch on Wednesday (April 19) morning.

The incident happened at around 11am and led to firefighters from Ellesmere and Baschurch being called to Oakley Close in Weston Lullingfields.

Pictures of the incident were shared by assistant group commander Jim Barker on social media and showed the charred remains of the vehicle.

A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "One tractor fully involved in fire. One extended hose reel and two breathing apparatus used to extinguish the fire."

The stop message to say no other crews were needed was received at 11.54am.
