NORTH Shropshire MP Helen Morgan has said she was left moved and inspired by Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky’s address in Parliament on Wednesday.

Mr Zelensky flew into the UK on Wednesday morning to be met by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, with former PM Boris Johnson in the audience after a surprise trip to Ukraine last week.

Mrs Morgan, Liberal Democrat MP for North Shropshire was in Westminster Hall with MPs from all parties to listen to the Ukrainian President’s speech.

Speaking after, Mrs Morgan said she was humbled to have heard him address MPs while his country fights a war with Russia.

She said: “It was truly inspiring to listen to President Zelensky’s moving address today.

“I know that everyone in North Shropshire stands in solidarity with Ukraine and supports the country’s brave defiance of Putin’s barbarous illegal invasion.

“Indeed many Ukrainians have now made North Shropshire their home and I am proud that they have been welcomed so warmly into our local communities after being forced to flee their homes.

“We are all united in our support of Ukraine and, in the words of the President, remain confident that freedom will win. Slava Ukraini.”
