CAMEL racing is going to be hosted near Whitchurch for the first time since 2019 this month.

The Great North Shropshire Camel Races will be taking place on the cricket pitch in Calverhall on Sunday, September 11.

A spokesperson for the event said there will be activities for children and it would cost £5 for adults but children would enter free.

They added: "We have been away for a while but have had a lot of calls from people about the day itself.

"The main attraction are the camel races which will take place with several races during the day on an adjacent site to the cricket field. "Admission for adults is £5 and it is free for children under 16.

"Gates open at 10.30am and there will be ample free parking.

"There is a fun dog show, lots of stalls, children's games , circus skills, tombola , refreshments and an artisan craft and food market plus live displays of weaving and carding.

"This is very much a country show for all the family."
