It was another successful night for Marbury Women’s Institute as it held its Annual General Meeting.

President Beryl Fletcher welcomed members on November 14, and confirmed meetings of Healthy Eating group on December 6 and the Book Club on December 12.

The Walking Group will tour Chester on Monday, November 27, and the group Carol Service will be at St. Mary’s Church, Nantwich, on December 4.

Beryl was re-elected President for the coming year, and Barbara Oakley – on behalf of members – thanked her for a successful and enjoyable year.

The speaker was Rev Lynne Morris, who was one of the first lady vicars and she set a very jolly tone for the evening with her anecdotes of various mishaps which she’d experienced.

She kept all thoroughly amused with tales such as the bride whose pet dog relieved itself on the long train of her beautiful dress just before she left for the church, and the groom whose mobile phone rang in the middle of the service – and he answered it.

Hilary Tucker gave the vote of thanks. The competition was won by Barbara, and the raffle by Lynn Horton.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, December 12 – for information please contact Beryl on 01948 664889.
