The away team won both top boards, with Peter Lovatt winning on 1 with white and Steve Rush winning with black on 2 against his old club, in his debut for Malpas & Oswestry.
On Thursday November 9 Malpas chess player Charles Lowick Higgie was in action for Oswestry in the Shropshire League, winning with white on board 2 to help Oswestry secure a 2.5-2.5 draw with telepost A.
Charles also played for Shropshire 1 over the week-end, in Doncaster, in Division 3 North of the National League.
Making his debut on board 5 of the first team, Charles drew on both Saturday and Sunday, helping Shropshire A to 5-1 wins on both days, to put them at the top of the division.
