IT WAS A fantastic weekend in Wem recently as hundreds of people descended on the town as part of the message to “shop local”.
The Midcounties Co-operative food store in the town was at the centre of the shop local campaign launch, with the Wem Spring Market also attracting many people.
With plenty of stalls in Wem Town Hall and dotted around the market, there was lots of food and drink for people to enjoy.
Whitchurch’s award-winning Powells Pies took their products to Wem, and members of Wem Civic Society dressed up as St George and the Dragon to entertain the crowds.
Wem town mayor Councillor Rosemary Dodd was on hand to support all the stalls.
