More than 100 tractors take part in Malpas event for Diabetes UK last Sunday

MORE than 100 tractors took part in a charity run last weekend to help raise at least £3,500 for Diabetes UK.

The tractor run, which stopped off at Dearnford Lake for refreshments, is run by four men – Stuart Davies, Mike Cotton, Anthony Mullock and Mark Piggott, each of whom takes a turn each year to organise.

Clare Davies, who is married to Stuart, said this year’s route and charity was Mike’s choice and they were delighted with how it went. She said: “The run was for Diabetes UK and we raised at least £3,500 with more to come in.

“We had 106 tractors taking part and we set off from Corbetts, on Hampton Industrial Estate, through Malpas and then with permission of Natural England, we went through Fenns Moss before stopping for a break at Dearnford Lake.

“Then we went through Tilstock before making our way back to Lower Moss Farm in Malpas for a beef roast and a very generous raffle.

“We’re really pleased with how it went. Last year we had 75 tractors, but this year we did a lot on social media and it helped.

“We had someone come from Hereford and someone from Ripon to take part.”
