NORTH Shropshire’s would-be Members of Parliament have been grilled by Sir John Talbot’s pupils in the run up to election day.

Head boy Sam Boardman invited the candidates to the school, and the Green Party, Labour and UKIP candidates spoke to students at a Sixth Form Forum last Wednesday. Many questions were raised, focusing especially on education and the environment.

Emma Parkinson, Director of Upper School said: “We had a lively, dynamic debate, with questions put in advance to the candidates by chair Sam Boardman. “Sixth formers watched, plus some year 10 students and students from the school parliament, from years 7-10”

The previous week, Lib Dem candidate Tom Thornhill visited the school, and Conservative candidate Owen Paterson was due to visit today. (Wednesday).
