FA Mercian Premier LeagueFC Oswestry Town 1, Whitchurch Alport 1 AFTER a fine win last week Town faced a tough test against title rivals Whitchurch Alport. In a tight first half it was Town who created the best chances with striker Scott Bright causing the visitors problems, but Town ’keeper Ben Richards was also called into action on a couple of occasions. The first half ended goalless, which on the balance of play was a fair scoreline.Town stepped up their game after the interval as wingers Calum Williams and Graeme Kirkham carried more threat on the flanks.  The hosts took a deserved lead when Scott Bright headed home at the back post from an angled cross into the box. Town almost doubled their lead five minutes later after a fantastic run from Calum Williams drew a fine save from the Alport ’keeper, before the rebound was poked over the bar by Bright.  With just two minutes to play the visitors gambled on a corner by sending the ’keeper up into the Town box, resulting in an Oswestry breakaway which Bright was unable to convert with the goal gaping. Alport then snatched a dramatic late equaliser in the 97th minute to earn a point and frustrate the hosts. Oswestry Town host Ketley Bank United on Saturday. Kick off is at 3pm.
