POLICE are appealing for information after distraction burglars targeted an elderly woman in Flintshire.

A man called at a property on Chester Road, Oakenholt, sometime between noon and 12.30pm on Tuesday, February 16 and claimed to be from ‘the water board’.

He told the woman inside the house that there was a problem with the water supply and asked her to turn on the stop tap.

He then left and said he would come back with a form but failed to return.

The woman then realised an untidy search had been carried out upstairs but nothing is believed to have been stolen.

North Wales Police believ there were at least two offenders involved in the incident.

The man who called at the house is described as being between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 9 ins and of slim build.

He had short dark curly hair and was wearing black clothes.  Anyone with information should call police on 0845 607 1002.
