A TEENAGER from Weston Rhyn who had taken cocaine on a night out before attempting to drive home has been banned for 12 months.

Jackson Findlay, 19, from High Street, Weston Rhyn, was stopped by police shortly after 2am on April 16 last year at Mile End services.

At Telford Magistrates Court, on Wednesday, February 5, it was heard how Findlay had been on a night out after less than desired A-level results.

Findlay had drunk within driving limits, but was offered cocaine by a friend, unaware of drug driving limits.

On the A5 Findlay tested positive for cocaine in his system and was taken to Telford Police Station.

At the station he tested positive for cocaine, and was found to be four times over the limit for its side-effect drug, benzoylecgonine.

Findlay pleaded guilty to the drug driving offence, and was fined £170, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 and a prosecution charge of £135, for a total of £337.

He was also disqualified for 12 months.
