WEST Mercia Police have announced that a second complaint of non-recent sexual abuse has been made following allegations published in the Whitchurch Herald.

On May 3, The Herald published a report on how a family doctor abused a boy between the age of nine and 13 in the 1970s.

Following that report, the paper received three more stories from victims of the doctor and this week carried the story of 'Jane' and how she was abused at the family practice.

She made a formal complaint to police and now a second report has been logged with West Mercia.

A spokesman said: "West Mercia Police has received two reports of non-recent sexual offences in Whitchurch, Shropshire.

"All reports of sexual offences are taken very seriously irrespective of when they took place and will be thoroughly investigated.

"Investigations are ongoing and there are no further details at this time."
