Nominations are open for the fourth annual Whitchurch Citizen of the Year, which launches at the Blackberry Fair tomorrow.

The competition, which started in 2015, has become a firm favourite in the town and town mayor Councillor Tony Neville is searching for an outstanding citizen to celebrate their achievements and success 2017 winner Rose Snell.

The award looks to honour people who have contributed to the community during the year.

Cllr Neville said: “It's our chance to recognise an outstanding individual in our community.

"So many individuals working tirelessly for our community without any desire for recognition or reward.

"That's why we are appealing for residents of Whitchurch to nominate their 'Citizen of the Year' – so that we may say thank you to them on behalf of our town."

Nominations can be made by downloading and completing a nomination form from Whitchurch Town Council’s website – hard copy nomination forms are also available from Whitchurch Civic Centre’s Community Hub.

Completed forms can be emailed to info@whitchurchcouncil.uk or posted into the Civic Centre.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, November 16. The winner, who is to be judged by Cllr Neville, will be invited to a reception at the Civic Centre to receive their award and help switch on the Christmas Lights on Saturday, November 24 plus appearing at other town events.
