FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze at a timber yard.
Crews attended Jenkins Yard in Prees Higher Heath shortly before 3am (Tuesday, September 25).
A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said that the small fire in a large stack of bark appeared to have been caused by spontaneous combustion, which he added was not an uncommon event in nature.
"It was a very small fire which was very rapidly contained and extinguished," the spokesman said.
Firefighters from Prees and Whitchurch spotted hotspots in the bark and stayed at the scene until shortly before 6am while yard staff created fire breaks between the bark.
