Children in Tilstock have a new space to play and it's all down to the National Lottery.

Youngsters in the village recently enjoyed a Playground Tea Party, hosted by Tilstock Bradbury Village Hall, to celebrate a Big Lottery grant for the refurbishment of the play area.

The children – and adults – then headed inside for a bit of mask making and a hula hoop tournament made up for the not-so-perfect weather!

The play area is situated between the Village Hall and Tilstock School, so it will get plenty of use.

The play area opened more than ten years ago, and was showing signs of wear, so it was time for a re-vamp.

Tilstock Bradbury Village Hall committee applied for the grant and organised the repairs to the safety surfacing, the replacement of worn seats and the provision of new signage, making the play area a safer place for local children and toddlers.

Richard Thompson, Village Hall chairman, said the grant was invaluable.

He added: “Without this grant, there was a possibility that the play area would become unusable due to general wear and tear causing safety issues.

"On behalf of children and parents, and the Village Hall committee, I’d like to express our thanks to the Big Lottery Fund for their help.”
