The BEST of the harvest will be on offer in Wem next with the running of the ninth annual harvest market in the town.

The event, which is being organised by the Wem Combine Harvesters, will be across the town on Saturday, September 29 from 9am to 1pm where there will be more than 60 food, drink, craft and plant market stalls.

They will set up in Wem Town Hall, Wem Senior Club, and Wem Baptist Church in what promises to be a well-attended and popular event that attracts hundreds of visitors to the town.

Visitors will be able to watch a spinning demonstration in the Town Hall where they will also be able to take part in the raffle with multiple prizes including food hampers.

There is a Coffee Morning being held in the Baptist Church while Wem Library will have an information display and book collection about ‘The Art & Craft of Stained Glass’

Miss Wales and John Bull will be present to guide visitors around the various attractions in the town.

There will be a number of familiar faces at the market including the 'The Great Wem Apple Round-up'.

Surplus Apples can be delivered to the market in the Town Hall; ask at the Civic Society [Senior Club] or Garden Club [Town Hall] stalls. The apples are turned into apple juice by Berriew Cider.

This juice is sold in aid of WCH projects in Wem. It may be possible to help with harvesting where owners are unable to gather their own for donation. Please ring 01939 235556 or 01939 233754 if help is required.
