Parish councillors in Malpas have moved to clarify how messages and official communications will be given from the body after informal complaints were made about social media use.

At the council's most recent meeting last week, it was announced that concerns had been raised about the use of the Malpas Village Facebook page.

Members of the parish council have been reminded of the importance of using social media responsibly, while the councillor who has responsibility for much of the activity – which has been criticised – has apologised and given an undertaking to recognise the concerns and amend his activities in future.

Town clerk Ruth Shackleton added: "Villagers are reminded that the only official communications from the parish council will be from the chairman or the clerk.

"Several informal complaints have also been received about the recent behaviour of one member of the parish council. The councillor involved has been spoken to and has apologised unreservedly for his inappropriate behaviour.

"The matter is concluded, unless further formal complaints are made – to the clerk."

Meanwhile, the council was full of praise for both the village's schools.

The clerk added: "Students at Bishop Heber High school have achieved outstanding results. The parish council send their congratulations to David Curry, his team and the pupils who having worked so hard to achieve such exceptional results.

"Malpas Alport Primary School now has a new extension and larger car park. The parish council has been invited for a look around and wish all involved the very best of luck in their splendid new space."

The parish council are providing a wreath for the 100 years commemoration event of Malpas 100 Years On, alongside many other villagers who are supporting the 1918-2018 commemorations between November 9-11.

Members of the parish council have continued to work with officers from Cheshire West and Chester (CWAC) in an attempt to find a solution to the traffic and parking problems.

There will be a consultation event which is provisional scheduled for October 20.
