RAF Shawbury will be holding a 'Freedom Parade' through the streets of Wem on Saturday, September 1.
The force was granted Royal Air Force Shawbury the 'Freedom of Wem' to honour the 'sincere appreciation' of the Force’s considerable contribution since 1917 to the community life and economic well-being of Wem and its inhabitants.
To renew these close ties with the population of Wem and its Town Council, personnel from Royal Air Force Shawbury are thrilled to exercise the privilege and honour for officers, airmen and airwomen to march through their streets with swords drawn, bayonets fixed, standards flying, drums beating and bands playing.
The march will take place prior to the main carnival parade and will start from Wem Train Station following Aston Street and High Street before finishing at Wem Fire Station.
They will also march through Shrewsbury.
