Twenty intrepid teams took up the challenge of the Whixall Treasure Hunt on Sunday, August 12.

With a list of tricky and unusual clues, set by Emma Trow and Emma Jones, most set off on the five-mile route by bicycle, while a few chose to walk with pushchairs. The Foster family from Whitchurch even cycled to the event and ended up clocking up an impressive 21-mile round trip on the day.

A carefully planned and directed route took everyone around the Welsh End, Canal side, Sandy Bank and Stanley Green areas of Whixall, all the time stopping to solve clues and questions that gave a completely different perspective and view of the village.

A close result saw Team Dev as the winners followed by Team Ollie, Ollie, Ollie and Team Noden. The Social Centre Committee thanked participatants, volunteers and residents of Whixall who allowed their homes to be used for the clues.

The event made m,pore than £440 on the day and all proceeds go to the maintenance of Whixall Social Centre – an important part of Whixall life.
