Firefighters from Whitchurch, Prees and Oswestry were on call last night at a blaze involving a large bonfire in Alkington shortly before 7pm.
Two crews plus a water carrier were called to the scene while firefighters used beaters and a hosereel jet to put out the bonfire, which was burning approximately eight tonnes of waste with 100 square metres of grass and undergrowth on fire too.
Firefighters stayed around an hour at the scene, using two jets and a fogging system to put out the fire.
