School permission
Plans for a school in Coton are underway after Shropshire Council granted permission for new classrooms and accommodation to be built at Coton Lodge, in between Whitchurch and Wem.
Permission was granted on July 2 with usual main conditions, plus another condition of the external appearance of the building being satisfactory.
Owners of the Lodge are looking to convert an existing garage into new accommodation, as well as building more rooms too.
The application was made by Sarah Morgan but Coton Lodge is the registered office of Shropshire Academy and Learning Trust which, according to its website, 'works collaboratively alongside schools and academies, at both a macro and micro level to develop a robust, systemic model of specialist support and early intervention'.
However, the application has received a number of objections, with residents complaining about access and the loss of badger setts, plus an as-of-yet unknown number of pupils as well as traffic issues.
The application was supported by Wem Rural.
