THE TRIAL of a Whitchurch woman alleged to have been part of a fraud by supermarket workers to use customer payment coupons is to be heard later this month.

Michelle Carson, 43, denies conspiring to commit fraud by abuse of her position as an employee of the Co-operative Store.

She is accused of being one of eight Whitchurch women who are said to have been involved in using customer discount coupons in payment for goods they purchased.

Carson, of Wrexham Road, Whitchurch, is due to face trial at Shrewsbury Crown Court on July 17.

She remains on bail.

Seven other women have admitted their role in the conspiracy said to have happened at the Co-op store in Wrexham Road between January and December, 2016.

Sophie Birch, 21, of Gilbert Lane, Susan Broster, 59, of Wrexham Road, Lana Kennedy, 22, of Alkington Road, Drive, Yazmin Moore, 26, of Queensway, Sally Smith, 49, of Caldicott Crescent, and Louise Wyke, 39, of Tilstock, are on bail and are due to be sentenced after Carson's trial.
