Pupils from the White House School in Whitchurch have gone the extra mile and taken part in a mini-triathlon to raise money for the RSPCA. With a little help from her friends, Daisy Banks a Class 6 pupil, organised the event. ‘We foster lots of animals at home so we had an idea to help the local branch of the RSPCA and have some fun too.’ said Daisy. The girls ran two kilometres, cycled 10 kilometres and swam 500m. In total they raised £377.75. Mrs Helen Clarke, Head-teacher at the White House School said, ‘We have a strong tradition of raising money for various charities at our school. It is so wonderful to see the children themselves pledging their support for such a good cause, in such an imaginative and energetic way.’

55 pupils from The White House School in Whitchurch successfully completed the final 1.1 mile of the Shropshire Primary Schools’ Challenge at the West-Mid County Showground in Shrewsbury last Saturday 16th June.

The children had been running a mile each week at school over the past few months and ran the final 1.1 mile of the 13.1 mile Challenge on Saturday morning.

Mrs. Michelle Jones, the PE teacher, said that the initiative had been very popular with the pupils. “ It was great to see so many children sign up to the Challenge. They have really enjoyed participating in the school’s running club and many say they have been inspired to continue with the club next term!”

Mrs. Helen Clarke, the Headmistress, was at the finish line to see the pupils finish and collect their medals. She said “It was wonderful to see the sense of achievement on their faces as they crossed the finish line. The event has been so successful, I am sure we will be back next year!”
