A POTENTIAL review of Shropshire and Wrekin Fire and Rescue Authority will be discussed by members.
If approved at Wednesday's meeting, the review would look at the “form and function” of the authority, which was established in 1997 to provide governance and strategic direction to the service.
It would also look at its structure and composition, economy, efficiency and effectiveness.
A report, which will go to the authority’s board meeting, next week, says: “It is believed it would be appropriate at this time to undertake a full review of the form and function of the authority to ensure it is performing its function in the best interests of economy, efficiency and effectiveness.
“This recommendation is in line with previous discussion and commitments and supports the authority’s ambitions to remain relevant and sustainable.”
If members back the recommendation, the Standards and Human Resources Committee will undertake the review and report back to the authority with recommendations later in the year.
