Prees has been the first area to be targeted by Shropshire Council for collecting data on the type of housing needed in north Shropshire, but time is running out to complete the survey.

Shropshire Council has launched the ‘Right Home, Right Place’ website to make it easier for people to say what housing they need and where by completing an online housing needs survey.

And although Shropshire Council will be collecting data for the whole of Shropshire, they will also be targeting individual areas – the first one being Prees.

Robert Macey, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for planning, urged as many residents as possible to get involved.

“So that we can provide the right homes in the right place we need people to tell us what type of housing they need and where they need it," he said.

"This may, for example, be people living with parents but wanting their own place, older people looking to downsize, or someone looking for a house nearer to work.

“At present people are put off from telling us what type of housing they need and where, or are unaware how to. To address this we’ve created the Right Home, Right Place scheme and website to help us to engage with those in need.

“Once we know more about what the need is, we’ll speak to the local housing associations and land owners.”

The housing needs survey was launched on June 2 and will run until June 24, though people can continue to complete the surveys after this time at www.righthomerightplace.com
