ANTICIPATION is building for a long-running annual dog show.

Competitors in pedigree, novelty and handling classes will take part in the Whixall Companion Dog Show at the village’s social centre on Saturday, June 9.

Elaine Turnbull will take over management of the show from Wendy Edge, who had managed the event for 24 years.

Charlotte Page, a Young Kennel Club ambassador, and dog show handling champion, will judge the event, while fellow ambassador Alice Turnbull will be show steward.

Tyler Jiggins, of main sponsor RT Total Heating and Plumbing of Coton, will present the three Best in Show prizes.

In addition to the range of activities in the show ring, there will also be the opportunity to try for a Bronze Certificate under The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme.

There will be a variety of stalls, as well as organisations such as the Whitchurch Police Safer Neighbourhood Team and representatives from Fenn’s, Whixall and Bettisfield National Nature Reserve.

Entries will be taken from 11am, pedigree judging starts at 12.30pm, with novelty categories not before 2pm.
