Whitchurch Town Council is getting set to welcome a whole new group of craft enthusiasts with the setting up of a new market.

The council has established a monthly Craft Market which will run alongside the popular Makers Market on the first Saturday of each month.

The craft fairs will take place during the summer months in the Civic Centre’s Main Hall from 10am until 2pm.

The fairs be held on Saturdays June 2, July 7, August 4 and September 1.

Town centre manager Zoë Dean believes the market will be welcomed alongside those already established in Whitchurch.

"We have a dedicated group of crafters and indoor stalls who are really keen to trade in town on a regular basis but other commitments mean they are unable to attend the weekly Friday Market," she said.

"We canvassed opinion during the town’s Spring Fair in April and there was enough demand to run an specialist indoor fair, at then we do not have to rely on the weather.

"Stalls that have already signed up include the Body Shop at Home and Design by Gill, as well as traders selling jewellery and homeware."

Town councillors in Whitchurch will once again be running a pop up café in the Civic Centre’s foyer.

Mayor Councillor Tony Neville added: “Myself and my fellow councillors are looking forward to running the café again, serving both hot and cold drinks and snacks.

"The café was a great success when the Civic Centre hosted Alice in Wonderland at Easter and we hope to build on that over the coming months."
