Whitchurch's Homebase store will close in July, the company has confirmed.
The troubled chain, which was sold for £1 by its former Australian owners Wesfarmers after buying it for £340 million, will close its doors in Waymills Road on July 4.
Restructuring specialist Hilco – who turned around entertainment HMV's fortunes – have bought the company and while they are expected to rebrand some of the stores, Whitchurch's Homebase will still be closed.
Wesfarmers' takeover of Homebase has been described as 'a textbook example of how not to do a retail acquisition'.
A Homebase spokesperson said: "We can confirm that our store in Whitchurch is set to close on July 4. Our priority now is to continue supporting team members."
