One OF THE best known names in Paralympic sport, Sir Philip Craven MBE, was a guest speaker at Wrenbury's Wingate Centre recently.

Sir Philip, who is the former president of the International Paralympic Committee, lent his support to the Wingate Centre who were delighted to welcome him as guest speaker at their Charity Luncheon at Wrenbury Hall.

Guests, including Nantwich sportsman Andrew Small, winner of a bronze medal at the Rio Paralympic Games in 2016, were treated to a magnificent lunch before enjoying a rare opportunity to hear from the leading sportsman and businessman.

Sir Philip, who is a vice president of the Wingate Centre, related the Paralympic experience to the fantastic activities that take place at the Wingate Centre, where children and young people are given both the platform and the freedom to be who they are.

With a host of incredible sporting achievements to his name, including being an accomplished five-time Paralympian in wheelchair basketball and swimming, Sir Philip’s passion for sport and inclusivity both inspired and moved guests. Guests also heard about some of the highlights of Sir Philip’s remarkable career within the Paralympic movement.
