The debut single by a Shrewsbury band is already surpassing all expectations after it was used as a backing track by Premier League newcomers Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.

Black Bear Kiss chose to film the video for their debut hit Hooks at none other than Percy’s Cafe Bar in Whitchurch earlier this year and asked local punters to feature in the production.

It was officially launched on the band’s YouTube channel just over a week ago and has already been viewed almost 1,000 times.

But it was also quickly picked up by Wolves FC - who secured their passage to the top footballing flight next season on Saturday - who used played it at Molineux ahead of their match against Birmingham on April 15, as well as a highlights video of the match and their subsequent promotion celebrations.

The members of Black Bear Kiss - Chris Leech, Rob Jones, Rich Sach, Chris Bagnall, Colin Haden - are all self-confessed Wolves FC fans, but lead singer Chris said it was still a very proud moment for them all.

He continued: “We are trying to make waves in the music industry and we are proud to be from Shropshire - hopefully it’s just the start for us.

“The video and the single have been received well. Filming the video was so much fun and Percy’s is such a quirky and unique venue. We want to thank everyone at Percy’s, all those who took part in the music video, plus of course Lost World Media for filming it.”

Black Bear Kiss are now looking ahead to their next single, the video for which is being filmed in the coming weeks at Market Drayton and Shrewsbury and intriguingly will include some unusual forms of transport.
