The town was out in force at the weekend for the second running of the Sir John Talbot's Whitchurch 10k.

Hundreds of runners descended onto the town to take part in the 10k, which is fast gaining an excellent reputation among elite and serious runners.

Race Organiser Hayley Alldridge took to Facebook to thanks all those who helped her put on the event.

She said: "Sponsors and volunteers: a huge thank you to our headline sponsor Grocontinental plus all of our other race day sponsors.

"The support has been incredible. Also, we couldn't have the event without the support of the volunteers and race marshals so thank you to all that have helped."

The race was won by Robert Cartwright, representing Wolves and Bilston, who finished in a fantastic time of 35 minutes and 27 seconds.

Sue Siddi was the first female home on the day, finishing a superb 16th spot in a time of 38:47.
