A Malpas resident has added his thoughts to the many tributes paid to comedian Sir Ken Dodd after he died last week.

Bernie Lloyd took to social media to reminisce about when he and his mother met the Liverpool-born comedian – noted for his long shows on stage – in a pub between Malpas and Whitchurch.

Dodd provoked a lot of people in Malpas to reminisce about when they met the entertainer. He performed both at Malpas Sports Club and at Bishop Heber High School.

Mr Lloyd wrote: "It made my mum’s day with this when we met Ken in the Horse and Jockey (in Grindley Brook) one night."
