Malpas Parish Council will hold an additional meeting next month to provide councillors with time to have full consideration towards planning matters.

They will be considering a response to plans submitted to Chester West and Chester (CWAC) council for a Community Health Hub and 57 homes in Chester Road.

The meeting time will also be used to invite the new owners of the village's Red Lion pub to the meeting too.

The extra meeting was confirmed at this month's parish meeting, which was held on Monday at the Jubilee Hall.

Other items discussed on the agenda include the Malpas 20/20 Vision as councillors approved the distirbution of a leaflet which will be delivered to locals explaining the the project.

Malpas 20/20's target aim to come up with ways to improve the appearance of the village and keep it tidy, while there will be Malpas participation in the national ‘Great British Clean Up’ campaign this month.

CWAC will shortly be consulting on proposals to introduce parking restrictions on both sides of Chester Road, while a map of the proposals with details will be posted on the village website.

It was confirmed that there has been some interest in joining the parish council; if co-option is required this will be undertaken at the April meeting.

The parish council was pleased to learn that the PCSO resources allocated to Malpas and Tattenhall, with who they have been paired, have been increased.

The meeting was told that complaints continue to be made about thoughtless parking, speeding and some verbal abuse from motorists.

Particular concerns include those of parents struggling to get their children safely to school. Problem areas include Chester Road and Tilston Road. The police have asked all to report all issues to them, take photographic evidence when possible,

The Parish Council will follow up the concerns with CWaC, noting that a footpath from the Bovis Site to the village was a condition of their planning permission.

Dates to note

The next meeting will be held on Monday, April 9 at 7pm. The drop-in surgery is on Saturday, April 7 between 10am and midday in the Jubilee Hall.
