Friends and family of a late artist from Whitchurch gathered at the town’s St Alkmund’s Church on Saturday for an exhibition of his work.

The many works on display at Bargates Hall showed some fantastic landscapes painted by Tony Bryant and were available via a silent auction.

Tony’s wife Judy attended the day as a steward and she was on-hand to talk visitors through the stories behind her late husband’s work.

The day proved to be very popular as many people passed through the doors to view his work which which were often life scenes he expertly captured.

Family members of all ages were on duty to help anyone wishing to find out more, with many spending time at the event.

The silent auction was in aid of a church bell fund for St Alkmund’s after Tony spent time there as a bellringer.

Tony was an accomplished painter. He and wife Judy moved to Whitchurch a few years ago and have been part of St Alkmund’s ever since.

Successful bids for the paintings were paid in cash or cheques and the final total raised for the church bell fun will be announced at a later date.
