The building of a skatepark in Whitchurch has moved one step closer after Shropshire Council formally put a building contract out to tender.

The competitive contract notice went out on Friday for the provision of the design and build of concrete skatepark at Jubilee Park in the town.

Businesses interested in building the facility, which is finally being built after a long struggle to access the funds needed, will be required to build a half bowl, ramps, rails and also put in drainage, signage and fencing.

The contract is expected to last eight weeks and is scheduled to be completed by May 25, in time for the half-term holidays.

The deadline for any contractors wishing to express an interest is February 9 and anyone wishing to bid for the contract can do so by sending an application Shropshire Council, Shirehall, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury, SY2 6ND.

Letters should be marked for the attention of procurement, while tenders can also be emailed to procurement@shropshire.gov.uk

On February 14, Shropshire Council will inform two bids that they have been successful in moving towards presenting at public workshops on Wednesday, February 21.

Both workshops will take place in the Edward German Room at the Civic Centre, with contractor A presenting from 10am until midday.

Contractor B will then present from 1pm until 3pm and Shropshire Council will take feedback from interested parties, such as the town council and youngsters wishing to use the long-awaited facility.
