Councillors at Whitchurch’s full town council meeting will hear from the head of primary care at Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group .

Steve Ellis will attend Thursday’s meeting, which is to start at 7.15pm in the Edward German Room at Whitchurch Civic Centre, with future medical provision in the town on the agenda.

Councillors have placed future health provision as a long-standing item on monthly agendas, and with plans gathering pace for a central hub to be potentially built at Pauls Moss, Mr Ellis’s presentation will be well-received.

The town council is also planning to have discussions on the wording of a statement in response to potential defamatory comments posted on Facebook recently.

It is believed the comments were made in response to a planning application refusal; however, the drafting of the statement will be held in public.

Meanwhile, in a short agenda, there will also be an update from West Mercia Police’s Safe Neighbourhood Team for the town, as well as a report from Shropshire’s councillors in Whitchurch.

There will be a public participation period of 15 minutes prior to the updates and Mr Ellis’s presentation.

In other items, there will be updates on three current outstanding full council resolutions, including an update of the Civic Centre freehold.

Minutes from the finance and personnel committee will be heard and approved, while members who have roles and responsibilities with outside organisations will report back on recent activity.

Councillors will also discuss an update on a meeting with Shropshire Council’s highways officer plus a letter from Sir John Talbot’s School concerning students safety crossing Tilstock Road.

The council’s internal auditor’s report on the best way forward for the Joint Burial Committee will be received and potentially approved.

There will also be a review and mending of the wording of the council’s grants policy.
