Out and about in Whitchurch…

The Whitchurch Committee for Macmillan Cancer Support would be very grateful for any unwanted Christmas gifts, however small, to use as draw and raffle prizes.

Whitchurch Walkers

On Sunday, there is a walk of the Wrekin area led by Malcolm Monie.

Anyone interested will meet at 10am at the Sherry Mill Hill car park and car share to the Forest Glen car park for 10.50am.

Ascend the Wrekin from the north east, then Little Hill and meander through the forest via Maddock’s Hill to the Ercall including the quarries.

This is a moderately strenuous seven-mile walk with 530 metres of ascent, some of it quite steep as are the descents. After the walk, refreshments at the Huntsman, Little Wenlock.

St Alkmund’s

There will be a retrospective exhibition and silent auction of paintings by local artist Tony Bryant at Bargates Hall on Saturday, January 20 between 10am and midday.

Bids can be placed between these times and if successful, can be be collected between 12pm and 1pm.

All proceeds will be put towards the church bell fund and payment will be by cash or cheque only.

Meanwhile, Sunday’s services at St Alkmund’s are 8am Said Communion, 10am Sung Communion with activities for children and young people and 6.30pm Sung Evensong.

At Christ Church Tilstock, there is 9.30am Holy Communion and at Holy Immanuel in fauls, there is 6.30pm Evensong.
