Division One

Bustlehome 2

Wem Town 3

Wem Town took advantage of Newport Town’s slip-up at St Martins to draw level at the top of the Division One table and with a game-in-hand.

They’re win by the odd goal in five at Bustlehome drew them level on 43 points, nine ahead of third-placed Old Wulfrunians, who have played two games fewer.

This means Wem are in a two, maybe three-team shoot-out for promotion and will be harbouring title ambitions after they recorded their 14th league win of the season.

Ad Jones, Mattie Cohen and Jordan Batchelor all scored as Wem saw off their stubborn hosts.

On Saturday, they are on their travels again as they make the trip to Gornal Athletic (3pm) who sit in fourth place and victory will put 13 points between Gornal and the Bowens Field men.

Meanwhile, in the Shropshire Premier Division, Prees were denied by the weather and hope to kickstart their 2018 action on Saturday when they host Oakengates Rangers Youth.

The Rec Men are third in the Premier Division, but have a game in hand and are four points off top spot.
