Pupils from an Audlem primary school were able to visit a building site last week as part of learning about construction.

St James’ Church of England Primary School in Audlem visited Anwyl Homes’ Heathfields development, in Audlem Road, to learn all about construction.

The Year 4 pupils, mainly eight and nine year olds, are currently reading a book called Demolition Dad and with the aim of bringing the book to life, the school contacted Anwyl Homes requesting a site visit to Heathfields, which is just a short walk away.

The construction experience started with an informative talk by Stephen Daniels, SHEQ Advisor at Anwyl Homes, on the most import health and safety issues on site.

The children were then shown a forklift truck and a digger and learned about how various pieces of machinery on a building site work, as well as the roles of various tradesmen that work on a building site and the type of materials needed to build a house.

Marketing manager at Anwyl Homes, Claire Anwyl said: “It was a pleasure to welcome pupils from St James’ to Heathfields.

“We are always happy to host informative site visits for children, enhancing their learning journey where possible, and we hope the pupils enjoyed their experience on site.”

Heathfields is a new development in Audlem offering a selection of three, four and five bedroom homes.

A showhome will open on site in the autumn.
