North Shropshire Wheelers had three riders competing in the recent Shropshire Cycling Club’s 50-mile time trial championship presented by Mid Shropshire Wheelers. Held over four laps of the Prees-Tilstock-Quina Brook circuit, competitors were faced with a rising south-westerly wind which made laps three and four particularly difficult. Nevertheless, it proved rewarding for the Norths’ Dave Wilson, who claimed bronze medal in the veterans’ category with an age-related plus of 17.55 and actual time of 2.21.56.  Richard Kay produced a super ride of 2.01.37 but just missed out on the medals with a fourth-placed finish. The final Norths rider, Dave Drew, completed the distance in a personal-best time of 2.14.54 to make it a rewarding morning. Round three of the Norths’ evening series had just 10 riders competing – and was once again dominated by visiting riders.  For the second week running, Mark Milton of Market Drayton CC claimed top spot with a time of 23.24 with Nova Raiders’ Andy Rose second in 24.08.  Leading Norths rider Dave Drew produced his best time to date, finishing in 24.47 for third, while another season’s best of 25.04 for Gareth Brookes was needed to hold off the challenge of Richard Cordova in 25.09. Other NSW times: Les Boughey 26.41, Amrico Atwal 27.08, Chris Birkett 31.08, Elaine Langley 38.16.
