THE RESIDENTS of Malpas got together to support a superb cause at the start of May with the Johnny Forbes Memorial Day.
A fete held at Malpas Sports Club in Wrexham Road helped raise thousands of pounds with activities put on for all, as well as a charity golf day held at the nearby Carden Park course.
The day was held in memory of Johnny, who was born to Neil and Jessica Forbes on May 4, 2016 after just 23 weeks and weighing just 1lb 5oz. He fought hard for 17 days before dying on May 21.
Visitors to the fete and charity golf day raised more than £4,000 and this will be donated to the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice in Stoke, which cared for Johnny and his family after his death.
Johnny’s family are planning to hold a bigger and better day in 2018 to honour their son’s memory.
