England footballer Jill Scott (right) comes to Prees next week.
The midfielder, who plays for Manchester City, will be visiting the youngsters at Prees Junior Football Club on Thursday to host a soccer school. Scott was dubbed one of England’s four outstanding players by FIFA following the 2011 World Cup and she was voted FA Players’ Player of the Year in 2008 and FA International Player of the Year in 2011. She is one of only 10 players to have 100 caps for the England Women’s team. Kris Morris, secretary of Prees Junior FC, said: “Jill has a big impact off the pitch as well as she runs the Jill Scott Girls’ Soccer Schools. There has already been a lot of interest from Prees girls and also from other clubs within the county.” Scott will be coaching the girls on the day and giving them tips and advice on how to improve their game. The day will run from 10am to 3pm and costs £25 per girl. Girls need to be aged between six and 18 and all abilities are welcome.
