The group that saved Wem Swimming Pool has raised £10,000 in just a month. The Friends of Wem Pool are fundraising for a new gym and viewing area at the pool on Bowens Field and had an amazing month in March, with £10,000 raised. They had raised £80,000 previously and now just need a further £30,000 before work can start on the build. Cadi Price, secretary of the Friends of Wem Pool, said: “We can do it. Then we can watch our children swim from the re-established viewing area. “We need your help to achieve this please.” Donations can be dropped off at the reception of the pool marked for Chris Mellings, treasurer of Wem Pool. Meanwhile, the group’s annual meeting takes place on Thursday, June 22 at Wem Sports and Social Club which is next door to the pool.
