There’s only so many ways a band can really pay tribute to the ones they idolise, but the Mersey Beatles have found a winning idea when it comes to the ‘Fab Four’.

And for the band which has sold out shows across the world, a visit to Whitchurch next year will celebrate John, Paul, George and Ringo’s performance at the former ballroom, in the High street, in 1963.

The tribute band’s Get Back 2018 Tour comes to town on November 8, 2018, with the Civic Centre hosting as one of the original venues the Beatles played during their glittering career.

Mark Bloor, who takes on the role of John Lennon, said: “We pride ourselves on bringing a true Beatles experience.

“(We’re) covering all the eras from the days of the Cavern Club, through Beatlemania to Sgt Pepper and the band’s final gig on the rooftop of the Apple offices.

“We cannot wait to ‘Get Back’ to where it all began for the greatest band of all time.”

Fewer than 80 of the 200-plus British venues The Beatles played between 1957 and 1966 remain today as so many of the historic dance halls, theatres and cinemas that shook to the original Merseybeat sound have been demolished.

The Beatles played Whitchurch’s former Town Hall Ballroom – located on the site of the new Civic Centre – on January 19, 1963, the same day as the band’s important appearance on TV’s Thank Your Lucky Stars, playing their new hit Please Please Me.

Mark Bloor is joined by Steven Howard (Paul), Craig McGown (George) and Brian Ambrose (Ringo) who formed in Liverpool, just like their heroes.

Steven added: “This tour is going to be amazing.

“We are, of course, all Beatles fans and, as Liverpool lads we’ve been obsessed with the band since we were in school.

“It’s going to be great to follow in the Fab Four’s footsteps and truly recreate those special shows at these wonderful and historic venues.”
