A re-homing kennels in Whitchurch is holding a ‘Winter Wonderland’ day on Sunday.
Acorn Kennels, in Heath Road, houses dogs that have been given away and are looking to re-home them, and also looks after Hector’s Greyhound Rescue.
Their Winter Wonderland runs from 12-4pm and there will be ‘Hector’s Santa Paws Dog Grotto’ for your four-legged friends to enjoy.
There will be refreshments including hot soup, mince pies, homemade cakes and mulled wine, with Whitchurch Community Choir performing Christmas carols.
Visitors can catch a Christmas bargain as there will be craft stalls and Hector’s merchandise will be on sale also.
You can also enter their Christmas jumper competition – see Acorn’s Facebook page for more details, and you can discover more at www.hectorsgreyhoundrescue.org/about-us
Meanwhile, Hayley Bradley, who runs Acorn Kennels, is calling for donations to make up a Christmas shoe box for the animals.
She said: “The shoe box appeal or stocking appeal is to give the strays dogs in rescue and the dog pound a chance to have treats and love this Christmas.
“It can contain treats, chews, tennis balls, tin of sardines or a toy – it doesn’t need to be expensive as the dogs do not realise about money.”
You can drop off donations for the shoe box at Acorn Kennels or at The Herald.
