The removal of an overturned lorry in Prees Green may take “several hours”.
Firefighters from Prees, Wem and Wellington were called to make the heavy goods vehicle safe after it struck Soulton Bridge on the B5065 Soulton Road shortly after 2.20pm today.
The road has since been closed.
A spokesperson for Shropshire Council said: “The vehicle involved in the incident is to be removed using a crane, which has now arrived on site. This is a major operation and may take several hours.
“The road will remain closed until the HGV has been removed, and will then be reopened to traffic under two-way traffic lights.”
The lorry driver was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with a minor head injury.
Jamie Arrowsmith, of West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: “We were called to reports of an overturned lorry. An ambulance and rapid response paramedic treated the driver of the lorry, a man in his 50s, who had managed to get himself out of the vehicle.”
