local hero AJ Pritchard survived a Strictly Come Dancing dance-off at the weekend.

The 22-year-old professional and his partner Mollie King, 30, from girl band The Saturdays went head to head with chef Simon Rimmer and his partner Karen Clifton.

But the four judges voted to save AJ and Mollie in Sunday’s show.

The couple danced the Cha-Cha to Better the Devil You Know by Kylie Minogue and  dressed as devils for the Halloween spooktacular special.

Bruno Tonioli scored a seven and enjoyed the performance. He said: “That was a devilishly good Cha Cha Cha. It was so fun, I wanted to join in.”

Craig Revel Horwood scored a six and commented: “I thought you needed straighter legs, there were slight balance issues. There was a little teaser of hip action in there.”

Darcey Bussell awarded a seven and said: “It does suit you – there were some nice accents when you finish things. Your weight is a little far back, but I loved the Kylie Minogue arms.”

Shirley Ballas also scored a seven and added: “I think you’re bringing your personality, your strength of character is definitely coming though.”

AJ’s parents run a dance and fitness centre in Burleydam near Whitchurch where he learned to dance.
