Whitchurch’s Air Cadets have raised hundreds of pounds after a successful coffee morning held at the Civic Centre.
The cadets raised £233.20 at the event, with plenty of their members attending to look after stalls selling all kinds of items.
Whitchurch Mayor, Councillor Tony Neville – in his role as long-time supporter of the cadets – was delighted with the money raised, but also the exemplary attitude of the youngsters that turned up.
“That’s a great amount for us to raise, especially as the weather in Whitchurch that day was horrible and the town was quiet,” he said.
“We’re very happy with it. It’s great to see that the cadets were there to show everyone what they do and we’re delighted that so many had come.
“I thanked them all at the end for coming out.
“It’s important to see young people getting involved in groups like this and getting out to meet the public. It’s right for them to show the people of Whitchurch what they do.
“It’s great to see them interacting with the public and I want to thank anyone who came and donated.”
