A husband-and-wife duo that produce some of Britian’s best pork pies are calling on Whitchurch’s help to achieve more recognition.

Andrew and Marie Powell, of Powell’s Pies in Watergate Arcade, have been nominated in a local producer category at the Nantwich Food Festival.

Marie says the competition has pitted them against some of the biggest names in produce, both inside and outside the baking world.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have been nominated as ‘Best Local Producer’, but we really need the help of people in Whitchurch,” said Marie.

“We’re up against some of the biggest producers out there, including Mrs Darlingtons and Cheshire Ice Cream Farm, and if people get out to vote for us, then we stand a chance.

“We’re a very small team, so to even be nominated for this is huge. Please get out to vote for us and push the name of Whitchurch right out there.”

Powell’s are no strangers to success following their bronze at the National Pie Awards earlier this year.
