Whitchurch Tangent Club celebrated its 40th birthday with a dinner at Tern Hill Hall Hotel, which was attended by an impressive array of dignitaries.

They included the national president of Tangent and the chairs of other neighbouring clubs in Telford, Newport, Market Drayton and Wem.

Members and guests were welcomed by the chair of Whitchurch Tangent, Gill Rich, who proposed a toast to the National Association of Tangent Clubs.

Melodie Brookes, national president, had travelled from Salisbury to attend and congratulated Whitchurch on achieving 40 years with such a strong membership.

During her year in office she aims to raise the profile of Tangent and is encouraging all clubs to say more about their activities and fly the flag.

Tangent Clubs are a continuation of Ladies Circle and part of the Round Table ‘family’, but they are also open to members who have never previously had those links.

Friendship is at the heart of the club which has the motto ‘may friendship continue’.

Members were entertained by Kath Reynolds who took everyone through an amusing journey back to their schooldays.

Future Tangent activities include a wine tasting and mini golf competition.
